Ambulatory monitors are small, portable electrocardiograph machines designed to record the heart's rhythm over an extended period. Each type of monitor offers unique features, including varying lengths of recording time and the ability to send recordings over the phone.
Your Heart Doc uses ambulatory monitors to assess your heart rhythm continuously.
Cardiac catheterization, or cardiac cath, is a procedure used to evaluate how well your heart is functioning. During the procedure, a thin, hollow tube called a catheter is inserted into a large blood vessel leading to your heart. A contrast dye visible on X-rays is then injected through the catheter. X-ray images capture the flow of this dye through the arteries, highlighting any blockages.
Vascular ultrasound is the general term for a non-invasive painless test that uses high-frequency sound waves to image blood vessels, including arteries and veins. Lower extremity venous ultrasound is typically performed if a clot in the vein (deep venous thrombosis or DVT) is suspected.
